Understanding Veteran Benefits & Medicare
If you are a veteran and eligible for Medicare, you may be wondering how your VA health benefits work with Medicare. The good news is, they can work together to give you more coverage and flexibility.
While the VA covers care you receive at VA facilities, Medicare can help pay for services outside the VA network. Having both can reduce your out-of-pocket costs and offer greater choice of providers.
Who Is Eligible?
You are eligible for Medicare if you are 65 or older, or under 65 and receiving disability benefits. VA health care eligibility is determined based on your service and other factors. Having VA benefits does not affect your Medicare eligibility, and you can be enrolled in both at the same time.
We are the only agent licensed in the USA that can assist you with all your veteran Medicare needs.
How to Enroll
You can sign up for Medicare through the Social Security Administration. It is best to enroll when you are first eligible to avoid any late enrollment penalties. You do not need to drop your VA coverage to get Medicare — in fact, having both may help you access more care and benefits.
